HEART is situated in Birk which is a unique area of Herning. As late as the mid 1950's the area consisted of fields but the Damgaard brothers saw the opportunities of the area and established, among other things, the very visable and tall institution for higher education. Ever since the 1960's various businesses, cultural- and educational institutions have flourished in the area side by side in beautiful and harmonious architecture.
The tour will present the architecture in Birk with offspring in HEART designed by the American architect Steven Holl. We will look into the former shirt factory ANGLI which is outlined by garden architecht C.TH. Sørensen and realised by C.F. Møllers' drawing office. Here is a unique example of Jørn Utzon construction and you will also find the spectacular Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt-museum (also designed by C.F. Møller).
Part of Birk is also TEKO with a number of exciting buildings, HIH Aarhus University, The Sculpture Park and the geometric Gardens.
